Palestinian Desak PBB Announces Starvation In Gaza

JAKARTA - Palestine urges the United Nations to officially announce a hunger disaster in the Gaza Strip that is still facing Israeli attacks since October 7.

"International reports show widespread hunger among Palestinian families who go through their days without food," according to a Palestinian Foreign Ministry statement reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Wednesday, December 27.

"More than a million people in Gaza are starving," he continued.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres previously said four of the five most starving people around the world were in Gaza.

About 1.9 million refugees took refuge in shelters and experienced severe hunger. A total of 50,000 pregnant women were also in the facility without water, medicines, or health services, the ministry said.

Israeli forces have launched a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip since the cross-border attack by Hamas 7 October.

As a result, at least 20,915 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were killed and 54,918 others injured in the aggression, according to local health authorities.

Meanwhile, about 1,200 Israelis are believed to have died in the Hamas attack.

Israel's intense attacks in Gaza caused collapse, with 60 percent of the infrastructure in the enclave damaged or destroyed and nearly two million people displaced amid the food, clean water and medicine crisis.
