The KPK Council Will Send The Results Of Firli Bahuri's Ethics Trial To Jokowi

JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to send the results of the ethics violation trial of the inactive KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The move was taken after they read out the verdict today.

"It was also sent an excerpt," said KPK member Albertina Ho to reporters when confirmed, Thursday, December 27.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board, Tumpak Hatorangan, said that President Jokowi would determine Firli's next fate.

"Dewas, the Council of Dewas only asked the person concerned to resign," he said.

"Regarding whether to respect or not, the president will decide," continued Tumpak.

Firli stated that the KPK Council was proven to have violated the KPK's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct regarding his meeting with former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). His attitude that met and did not convey the incident to other leaders was considered to have caused a conflict of interest.

"Declaring that Firli Bahuri has been legally and convincingly proven to have violated the code of ethics and code of conduct, namely having direct or indirect relationships with Syahrul Yasin Limpo whose case is being handled by the KPK," said Chairman of the KPK Council Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean when reading the court's decision, Wednesday, December 27.

Dewas also said that the act did not show any exemplary in the actions and behavior as KPK leaders. His actions were declared in violation of Supervisory Board Regulation Number 3 of 2021 concerning Enforcement of the KPK Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Article 4 paragraph (2) letter a Article 4 paragraph (1) letter j and Article 8 letter e.

As a result, Firli was sentenced to the heaviest sentence for KPK personnel, namely being asked to resign. Then, he also violated ethics in two other actions such as not submitting a report on the assets of state administrators (LHKPN) appropriately and related to the rental of houses on Jalan Kertanegara Number 46.
