Avoiding Migration Risks, Slovenia Again Extends Border Controls to Croatia and Hungary

JAKARTA - Slovenia has extended the monitoring period for its land border gates again. Especially with Croatia and Hungary.

This is due to security threats due to migration and terrorism.

"The modality and intensity of temporary border control measures at domestic borders will continue to be targeted and focused on preventing terrorism, extremism, and cross-border crime," said the government of the European Union member state, citing Antara.

Monitoring the country's borders with a number of other European Union members such as Hungary and Croatia began on October 21, but has now been extended until June 22, 2024.

Previously, Slovenia extended its land border controls until December 21, 2023.

Last week, the Italian government extended the border control period with Slovenia until January 18, 2024.
