Mahfud Ulas Pinjol's Terrible To The Point Of Suicide

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate Mahfud MD reviewed the issue of terrible online loans (pinjol) to the point of suicide. Pinjol is called a problemic affair.

In my opinion, the digital economy is avoided by anyone. We cannot refuse but we must be careful that there is an extraordinary disruption, I won the people's loan to become a victim of the digital economy," Mahfud said in a vice presidential debate, Friday, December 22.

Loans are problematic because they deal with civil law. Borrowers only through gadgets can apply for money loans but it is risky because the risk is large, including multiplied interest.

"People don't know you've paid that much, that's civil. Some have committed suicide, a minimum of Rp. 500 thousand, the debt is Rp. 240 million because they have increased their debt," he said.

Mahfud as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has coordinated with the National Police. But the handling of illegal loans cannot be done due to civil matters.

"We conveyed it to the OJK, but it is not within their authority because they are illegal," Mahfud said and then spoke about the arrest of 144 people related to illegal loans.
