Hunted For 2 Days, Driver Hits Child's Mother To Death In Parung Panjang Surrenders

The Bogor Police Traffic Unit said that the man with the initials AG, a truck driver or special mining transport that killed a mother and child in Gorowong Village, Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, West Java, had surrendered.

Head of Traffic Unit of Bogor Police, Ipda Angga Nugraha, said that AG, who had fled after the accident on Sunday, December 17 afternoon, turned himself in to the Bogor Police Office on Tuesday.

AG then underwent the examination process and was named a suspect in violating Article 310 paragraph 4 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning road traffic and transportation with a penalty of 6 years in prison and a fine of IDR 12 million.

"Now AG has been detained at the Bogor Police Headquarters," said Angga, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

The accident that caused the mother and child to die at the place occurred on Sunday, at 15.30 WIB. At that time, Isnawati (34) was carrying her daughter on a motorbike across Jalan Raya Sudamanik, Gorowong Village, Parungpanjang District.

The incident involved three vehicles, two mining trucks and one motorbike. At that time, a truck with police number B 9561 FPA driven by Suryadi Sudirja (27) was passing in the same direction as the motorcycle driven by Isnawati from Parung Panjang to Ciomas.

Then, at the T-junction of Reyod Village, the truck loaded with stones driven by Suryadi got out of control and overturned on Isnawati and her son when they passed by a truck with police number B 9903 PYT whose driver's identity was not yet known.

The truck involved in the accident is known to have violated the operational rules for mining special transportation which have been regulated in Regent Regulation (Perbup) number 160 of 2023 concerning the operating hours of special mining transportation.

The Perbup replaces Perbup number 120 of 2021. The operating hours of special mining transportation vehicles which originally took effect at 20.00 WIB 05.00 WIB to 22.00 WIB 05.00 WIB.

Through this Perbup, the Bogor Regency Government adjusts operating hours in its area to those imposed by the Tangerang Regency Government, Banten, which is 22.00 WIB until 05.00 WIB.
