SBY: Don't Spread Your Introverted Promise

BANYUMAS - Chairman of the Democratic Party's High Council Susilo Bambang Yudhono (SBY) reminded all candidates for legislative members from the Democratic Party not to spread grandiose promises during the 2024 election campaign.

"As I convey to the candidates on the island of Java, especially those that I have visited, then continue to communicate with the community, do not spread grandiose promises because it is not easy to fulfill, sometimes it doesn't even materialize," he said in Baturraden, Banyumas, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.

SBY said this during a press conference after giving a briefing to Democrat Party candidates from the Banyumas and Cilacap Regencies.

SBY asked the legislative candidates to convey that if the Democrats return to the government and their votes in the DPR RI will increase, the programs that have been run by the party and liked by the community will be revived.

"What is good, I convey is continued, but what is not good or not good, whether it is policies, the ways of the state facing its people, yes we make changes and improvements," he explained.

According to him, this has been conveyed to Democratic candidates for further delivery to the public.

SBY admitted that he toured Java, starting from West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, and East Java for three weeks in order to communicate with the Indonesian people.

"Actually, most of them still remember when the Democrats were in government, when I led Indonesia. Especially still remember the programs or policies they considered were good and liked, from BPJS to KUR, PNPM, BOS, Aiming for Missions, and so on," said the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

The point, he said, was that the programs would be revived later in the upcoming government.

According to him, some of the programs were continued by the government of President Joko Widodo but some were not continued.

"Well, the people feel good if it continues," he asserted.

He said the public has hope for the next five years of state, leader and government.

In addition, he said, the community entrusted it to the Democratic Party to participate in fighting for all of this to be realized.

"The conclusion is that so far our communication has been going well, of course the challenges are not easy for all parties, including the Democratic Party," he said.

Nevertheless, SBY said he was optimistic that if the Democrats really fought for the expectations of the people, there was still a possibility that the Democrats would get good votes.

SBY said that currently the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, often assists presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto in the context of presidential elections.

"I am currently filling the spaces that the Democratic leadership needs to fill. I went down the mountain for the legislative election even though I still played a role in the presidential election," he said.

SBY claimed to have conveyed to the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto regarding the expectations of the community so that programs as long as his government can be carried out again.

In fact, if Prabowo Subianto is elected president, he said, it would be the Democratic Party's duty to convey these programs to the elected president.

"My relationship with Pak Prabowo is good, very good to this day," he said.

He said that when AHY expressed his support for Prabowo, there was also hope that what was good would continue, but not yet good, it had to be improved because that was his business with the people.

According to him, Prabowo in principle accepted, so that there was a match with the spirit of the Democratic Party to continue good programs and improve those that were not yet good.

"I encourage Pak Prabowo, do your best, keep it, don't let there be basic mistakes, so that this good voice, God willing, can be maintained and maintained. Whether one round or two rounds, we will leave it to history," said SBY asserted.
