JK Announces Support For Anies, Spokesperson: Moral Responsibility So That People Don't Choose The Wrong Leader

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) finally expressed his support for presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. This was stated in an event attended by the spokesman for the AMIN Village in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Spokesperson for JK, Husain Abdullah explained, JK announced his political stance because he felt the need to convey a message to the public so as not to make a mistake in determining the choice in the 2024 presidential election contestation. "Because they feel that they have a moral responsibility so that the people are not wrong in choosing the leader who will lead Indonesia in the next 5 years, then Tuesday 19 December in Makassar, M. Jusuf Kalla said publicly if he chose Anies Baswedan who was paired with Muhaimin Iskandar," Husain told reporters, quoted Wednesday, December 20. So far, JK has not publicly disclosed his direction of support. Considering, JK carries out as Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). "So far, he conveyed himself neutral, but as a citizen of Mr. JK certainly has a political choice. Based on the track record of Anies Baswedan, which he knows, Mr. JK believes that Anies is the right person to lead Indonesia in the future," explained Husain. JK considers Anies as his political student since Anies had a career in the field of education. JK also assessed that Anies has knowledge, experience, honesty, and integrity as a candidate for leader.

"For JK, Anies is a person who is fair, understands the basic economy and is full of calculations. And which is no less important, Anies and Cak Imin have a strong religious basis," he said. In the event in Makassar yesterday, JK admitted that he was present to affirm his support for Anies, after he was often asked by a number of parties about his political support. "I came and was asked what is your attitude in Makassar? I really conveyed my attitude. Hopefully there will be benefits for all of you," said JK.JK asserting that he supports Anies in this political contestation individually. Because, as the Chairman of the Central PMI, JK cannot actively support any of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. "I came here to objectively convey my personal choices because I certainly have limitations," said JK.
