COVID-19 Cases In Surabaya Rise, People Are Asked To Use Masks In Closed Rooms

Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi appealed to the public to wear masks while in a closed room as a preventive measure against the transmission of Covid-19 which is now increasing in a number of Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia.

"The more cases of Covid-19, we have to be more careful. First, we urge you to be careful. Second, use a mask in a closed room. Third, follow instructions from other ministers," said Eri Cahyadi on Tuesday, December 19 evening.

Eri also invited residents to take care of each other so that Covid-19 does not hit the city of Surabaya. He hopes that if there are residents who have contact with confirmed patients or experience symptoms such as dry coughs, runny noses, fever of more than 38 degrees Celsius, muscle aches, and sore throat, immediately check themselves into the nearest health care facility (Fasyankes), both hospitals (RS), health centers, and clinics.

"Take care of each other, that's the point. If you feel symptoms, take care of yourself," he appealed.

Furthermore, Eri also reminded foreign travelers (PPLN) who have the risk of contracting Covid-19 due to interactions with people from various countries. They are recommended to complete the COVID-19 vaccination, both primary and booster doses according to the provisions.

The goal is to ensure that PPLN's immunity is sufficient to travel and prevent transmission during the trip and after returning to the country.

As a serious measure in anticipating the spread of Covid-19 in Surabaya, Eri also issued a circular (SE) to be aware of the spread of the Covid-19 virus on Monday.

This SE was issued as a concern for all levels of the City Government (Pemkot) and the people in the city of Surabaya.
