Arwana Fish Corruption Case, Police Check Head Of Kapuas Hulu West Kalimantan Fisheries Office

KAPUAS HULU - Kapuas Police investigators, Hulu West Kalimantan, investigated the Head of the Kapuas Hulu Fisheries Service regarding allegations of corruption and illegal fees for arowana fish procurement.

"We have investigated the head of the fisheries department regarding the alleged corruption and illegal procurement of Arwana fish in Kapuas Hulu," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Kapuas Hulu Police, AKP Rando quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 18.

During the examination, the Head of the Kapuas Hulu Fisheries Service was still a witness. Until now, a dozen people have been questioned by the police.

"For now, the alleged corruption and illegal collection of Arwana fish are still at the stage of investigation and examination of witnesses, there may be suspects, if their status is in the investigation stage," continued Rando.

The procurement of Arwana fish at the Kapuas Hulu Fisheries Service was carried out by 18 companies for 18 groups of beneficiaries spread across a number of sub-districts of the Kapuas Hulu area with a total budget of IDR 1.113 billion.

Regarding the alleged extortion, the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Kapuas Hulu Fisheries Service, Sulaiman, previously stated that his party did not accept and collect anything.

"If we do not accept or collect anything," said Sulaiman.

According to Sulaiman, the procurement of Arwana fish is a proposal from a community group through 10 members of the Kapuas Hulu DPRD which is then budgeted in the Kapuas Hulu Fisheries Service fish cultivation program with a budget of approximately Rp1.13 billion.

"The fish procurement was carried out by 18 companies for 18 recipient community groups, technically we have implemented it according to the mechanisms and regulations," said Sulaiman.
