Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party DPP Andi Arief assessed that the special debate for vice presidential candidates (cawapres) was only limited to empty messages.

According to him, the position of vice president (wapres) in government is like a spare tire that does not have full power over policy.

"According to the Constitution, the vice president has spare tires. He has no policy signature," Andi said in his X social media account, Tuesday, December 19.

Andi said the vice presidential debate, which will be held for the first time on Friday, December 22, is worth much if it is equalized to the inter-presidential debate.

"If the President assigns this authority, part of the President's authority. The vice presidential debt is an empty message," he said.

The KPU is known to have determined three pairs of candidates (paslon) for presidential and vice presidential candidates participating in the 2024 presidential election, namely candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, serial number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and serial number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) was attended by 18 national political parties (political parties), namely PKB, Gerindra, PDI-P, Golkar Party, Nasdem Party, Labor Party, Indonesian Gelora Party, PKS, PKN, Hanura Party, Garuda Party, PAN, PBB, Democrat Party, PSI, Perindo, PPP and Ummat Party. The 2024 Legislative Party was also attended by six local political parties, namely the Nanggroe Aceh Party, the Atjeh Beusaboh Tha'at Generation Party and Taqwa, the Darul Aceh Party, the Aceh Party, the Aceh Prosperous Justice Party, and the Aceh People's Independent Solidity Party.
