KPU Prohibited The Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidate Teams From Giving Provocative Codes To Encourage Debate Participants

The General Election Commission (KPU) has conveyed a warning as well as a prohibition to the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair team so as not to provide a provocative code to encourage during the debate.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said the warning and prohibition was a form of evaluation of the previous presidential candidate debate.

"Things that are deemed not in accordance with the provisions, for example, there are candidate pairs who provide signs or codes or movements that encourage their supporters, all of them are not allowed, and we conveyed them in yesterday's evaluation meeting," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 18.

Hasyim said that the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair team had also submitted the evaluation to their respective candidate pairs and had also confirmed their commitments related to this matter.

"Each paired candidate has agreed, then there has been an affirmation, a commitment to be orderly in accordance with the agreement between the candidate pair and the KPU," he explained.

Hasyim hopes that all upcoming debates can run more orderly and conducively, free from provocative things that can interfere with the course of the debate.

Previously, the KPU gave a warning to Gibran Rakabuming Raka after the inaugural presidential candidate debate on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

The reprimand was due to the Vice Presidential Candidate number 2 standing from his seat and inviting an invitation to encourage Indonesian Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto during the debate session.
