CENTRAL PAPUA - At least three major tribes in Nabire, Central Papua were hit by conflict. The three are the Mee Tribe, Dani Tribe and the Wate Tribe.
The security forces and the Central Papua Provincial Government mediated the dispute between the three tribes which was initially triggered by the seizure of land in Topo, Uwapa District, Nabire Regency. The fight has occurred since June 5, 2023.
"The peace process was carried out on Thursday (December 14), so the three of them have now accepted each other and started living in peace and harmony which after seven months of conflict over land struggles occurred," said Acting Governor of Central Papua Ribka Haluk in a press release, Monday, December 18, confiscated by Antara.
