13,034 Joint Personnel Joint Christmas And New Year 2024 In East Java

A total of 13,034 joint personnel from the National Police, TNI and other policy makers were deployed to secure Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 in East Java.

"The joint personnel are spread across all areas in East Java that are members of the 2023-2024 Semeru Candle Operation," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto in Surabaya, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 18.

Dirmanto explained that the Semeru Candle Operation which was held by the East Java Regional Police together with policy makers in all ranks was a humanitarian operation.

In this Semeru Candle Operation, continued Dirmanto, the East Java Regional Police together with the TNI and existing policy makers aim to realize security, safety, order and smooth traffic during the year-end holidays and and the beginning of the year.

"In this Semeru Candle Operation, the security forces will also maintain the safety and comfort of Christians who carry out Christmas services and celebrations," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the East Java Police, Kombes Komarudin, as the Head of the Operations Opsda Operation Lilin Semeru, explained that securing the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year activities would also establish 194 posts.

"We have prepared 194 posts consisting of 143 security posts, 42 service posts and nine integrated posts," said Komarudin.

The posts will be set up at the points needed according to the characteristics of each region.

"The placement of these posts will later be placed in several locations according to the criteria, such as tourist attractions, crossing routes and places of worship," he said.

In addition, the Dirlantas Polda East Java also said that there are several potentials and vulnerable points, including disaster-prone points, congestion-prone points, or community mobilization at the turn of the year.

Of the 107 million people who are predicted to move during Christmas and New Year, East Java ranks first with an estimated 17 percent of all existing movements.

"This means that there will be an increase in activity activities at Christmas and the new year," he said.
