6 Police Persecuting Herman At Jail Resort Police Balikpapan Claims To Release Control

JAKARTA - The National Police said six police officers tortured Balikpapan Police detainee, Herman (39) to death because they could not control their emotions. Herman who died was a prisoner in a theft case.

"The suspects admitted that their motive was the loss of control or loss of control so that they took action against Herman", said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Police Chief Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, February 18.

However, Ramadan did not specify the chronology of the persecution. He only said that the suspects would undergo two legal processes for their bandages.

"So now, the code of ethics and criminal proceedings have been examined", he said.

For the application of the professional code of ethics trial, said Ramadhan, in accordance with the Chief of Police Regulation (Perkap) number 14 of 2011.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that six suspects of the persecution of Herman had been removed from their posts.

"So the suspect (6 police) after being transferred to Yanma (Headquarters Service) was also removed from his position", said Argo.

Argo emphasized that one of the six suspects was the Head of The Unit (Kanit) with the initials Iptu RH. However, the other five suspects were not clearly informed about their identities.

"Members of the police who carried out the torture resulted in the death of the suspected suspects (weighted theft). We are wearing a criminal code and a code of ethics", he said, adding that the suspects were also handled by the East Kalimantan Police Professional and Security Division (Propam).

Herman died on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The day before, Herman was taken by 3 unknown people from his house in Bilangan Muara Rapak, North Balikpapan.

Herman was then taken to the Balikpapan Police to be investigated in the case of theft of 2 cell phones. Visiting families are not allowed to meet.

As told by the family, Herman vomited and repeatedly defecated so that the officers were taken to Bhayangkara Hospital. However, Herman is helpless and dies.

When the body was returned, the family found several wounds on the deceased's body. However, it was only on February 5, 2021, that the family reported the case to the East Kalimantan Police Propam.
