BANDUNG - Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung has prepared a special mental care room for legislative candidates who experience mental disorders due to failure in the 2024 General Election.

Director of Medical and Nursing RSHSIwan Abdul Rachman said mental health services at RSHS are preparing inpatient rooms starting January 2024, considering that until now RSHS only serves teleconsultation and outpatients for patients with mental disorders.

"We are preparing starting January 2024, specifically for mental care. Until now, the services provided to patients with mental disorders are outpatients. We are still working together for inpatient services for mental disorders patients with other hospitals," Iwan said in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

Thus, he said, it is hoped that in the February 2024 election, the special psychiatric treatment room which has a capacity of 20 people has been effectively used to care for candidates who have mental disorders.

Iwan said mental disorders can also be physically disturbing, such as symptoms of stomach disease and other body parts. Diseases related to mental disorders must be coordinated with other doctors in their fields.

"We are trying to have a special treatment room, for patients who are feared to injure themselves and the surrounding environment. We are still preparing, hopefully January can be used," he said.

Meanwhile, RSHS Mental Specialist Santi Andayani explained the characteristics of people with mental disorders, which can be experienced by candidates who fail to be elected in the 2024 election, with symptoms such as being easily angry or raging.

"There are also those who do not always display mental disorders such as anger or tantrums, namely not being able to sleep, pain, not feeling well," said Santi.

He said, if there are legislative candidates who are embarrassed to undergo outpatient treatment, they can use a teleconsultation channel via cellphone, with interviews and assessments also carried out from there.

Santi said the cause of the legislative candidate was mental disorders, including not being prepared with consequences if he lost.

In fact, according to him, in a match or competition, anyone must be ready to lose or fail.

"They never measured what the risk of failure would be. What kind of preparation would they be. If they compete, it's not only physical readiness that is needed, but also mental," he said.
