JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated land transport terminals in three provinces to anticipate a surge in bus passengers ahead of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

The terminal that was inaugurated by the President on Wednesday (13/12) was the type A Tingkir Terminal in Salatiga City, Central Java, then the Paya Ilang Terminal in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, and the Anak Air Terminal in West Sumatra.

"The security and infrastructure of transportation are increasingly being felt, especially when there is a surge in passengers, such as during holidays or before the end of the year holidays like now," Jokowi said when inaugurating the three bus terminals at Salatiga, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

The President then explained the budget spent to build the Tingkir Salatiga Terminal amounting to Rp34.8 billion. This terminal can serve intercity inter-provincial bus mobility (AKAP), Inter-City and Interior Province (AKDP), and rural transportation as many as 235 buses per day.

Meanwhile, the Paya Ilang Terminal in Aceh was built at a cost of Rp. 22 billion and can serve 91 buses per day for AKAP, AKDP, and urban buses.

Finally, namely the Water Children's Terminal in West Sumatra which was built with funds of Rp. 94.8 billion and was able to serve up to 109 buses per day. The total presence of Tingkir Terminal, Paya Ilang Terminal, and Anak Air Terminal cost up to Rp. 151.7 billion.

According to Jokowi, the three bus terminals have modern buildings equipped with comfortable facilities, so they not only function to ride/go down passengers but also function as centers for MSME activities, shopping centers, and other social activity centers.

"The development of transportation facilities and infrastructure is very important to improve connectivity between cities, between regions, and support community mobility, increasing the comfort of land transportation users," said President Jokowi.
