JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said the selection of candidates for state civil servants (CASN) in 2024 will be widely opened for new graduates or fresh graduates.

Azwar explained that in recent years there has been no broad recruitment for young Indonesians who have just graduated.

"The amount is considered insignificant because it only covers 20 percent of the total formations that have been opened or around 28,000 positions offered for fresh graduates," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday.

"Therefore, we report the need for fresh graduates in large quantities next year, but (the number) has not been decided because it is still being studied and explored," he said after attending a Limited Meeting with President Joko Widodo regarding the 2024 ASN Recruitment Plan, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 12.

According to Azwar, the President has instructed the Kemenpan RB to immediately explore how much fresh graduates can fill various formations opened in CASN 2024, ranging from doctors to digital talents who are expected to contribute to district governments throughout Indonesia.

Not only fresh graduates, he said, in planning the recruitment of ASN next year, the government is determined to resolve the issue of former honorary (THK) II workers, which amounts to 1.6 million people.

He considered the issue to be homework' which since 2005 has not been successfully completed, especially related to the fate of teachers in remote areas who graduated from elementary, junior high and high school who because of the rules cannot be appointed as government employees with work agreements (PPPK).

"While they have served some 20-25 years, some of them are even close to retiring. We said earlier that this number is not small because there needs to be affirmation and later (this issue) will be resolved by the government," said Azwar.
