KPK Will Give Legal Aid To Agus Rahardjo After Bareskrim Reported

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is ready to provide legal assistance to former KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo after being reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

It is known that Agus Rahardjo was reported because of his statement regarding the intervention of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to stop handling corruption cases in e-KTP. He conveyed this during a special interview on a television program.

"Yes, that's right, if later (Agus Rahardjo, ed) asks for help related to it (reporting, ed), that is possible," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at Istora Senayan, Tuesday, December 12.

Ali said the KPK did provide legal assistance for its leaders, including those who were no longer in office. They are said to still have rights.

"There are rules in Government Regulations, at request. If then all former leaders can still receive it, it is possible to receive legal assistance at the request of the former KPK leaders," he said.

Previously, the Secretary General of the Pandawa Nusantara, Faisal Anwar, reported Agus to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. He is suspected of slander and defamation because his statement about Jokowi intervened without evidence.

"The narrative conveyed by Agus Raharjo is not accompanied by authentic evidence, and also with legal evidence in accordance with existing laws," Faisal told reporters, Monday, December 11.
