KY Deploys 'Monitor' Team Pretrial Firli Bahuri And Former Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights Eddy Hiariej

The Judicial Commission (KY) has deployed a team to monitor the trial process for a pretrial lawsuit filed by the inactive KPK Commissioner Firli Bahuri and former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej alias Eddy Hiariej at the South Jakarta District Court. The goal is to maintain the independence of the judge. "It is true, KY will monitor two pretrial cases on behalf of the suspect Firli Bahuri and the suspect Eddy Hiariej," said KY Spokesperson Miko Ginting when confirmed, Monday, December 11. The monitoring team has witnessed the inaugural trial which was held today. The presence of the KY team is to maintain the independence and ethics and behavior of judges in leading the trial. In the inaugural trial of Firli Bahuri's lawsuit, his team of lawyers asked the panel of judges, Imelda Herawati, to order the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, to issue a Letter of Termination of Investigation (SP3) for the alleged corruption case that named him a suspect. The request was contained in the petitum of Firli Bahuri's pretrial application which was read by his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, during a trial at the South Jakarta District Court. "Ordered the respondent (Kapolda Metro Jaya) to stop the investigation of the applicant (Firli Bahuri)," said Ian. The reason behind the request was because it was considered that the investigation warrant issued by Karyoto was invalid. This is because the letter was issued on the same day as the issuance of a police report (LP) on October 9.
