JAKARTA - Former Commissioner of Komnas HAM, Natalius Pigai, stated that the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto was not proven to have violated human rights (HAM) in the past.

The reason is, in the Komnas HAM investigation there was no Prabowo Subianto who was accused of being involved in the kidnapping of 98' activists.

This was emphasized by Natalius Pigai in response to the topic of the first presidential and vice presidential candidates held by the KPU, including corruption, human rights and democracy issues.

"Regarding Komnas's clear position of human rights, I will repeat it again if there is no Prabowo's name in the conclusion of the Komnas HAM investigation, it means that Pak Prabowo is clear. Therefore, if someone calls Pak Prabowo a perpetrator of past crimes, then it's verbal violence, verbal violence, hate speech, and that's an insult," said Pigai at the TKN Prabowo-Gibran Media Center, South Jakarta, Monday, December 11.

Pigai assessed that if until now there were parties touting Prabowo for human rights violations, none other than to bring down the name of the former Danjen Kopassus.

"So my friends have to write that whoever calls Pak Prabowo a perpetrator of human rights violations, then it is verbal violence, verbal violence and insults. And is more oriented towards political interests to benefit political opponents," he continued.

Pigai also asked to remove Prabowo's name in the circle of human rights crimes. Because he said, Komnas HAM was the only institution that was entitled and authorized to constitutionally investigate human rights violations, not finding Prabowo's name involved in the past case.

"And the results of Komnas HAM's emergence do not have the name Prabowo Subianto, point, clear," he said.
