Jokowi: Ancol Pump Flood Reduction In 7 Districts Of North Jakarta

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station in North Jakarta is claimed to be effective in reducing flooding in seven sub-districts in the local area.

"I think this will reduce a lot of areas that are usually affected by flooding in DKI Jakarta, and this is specifically for Sentiong pumps, which will reduce flooding in seven sub-districts," he said in an interview session after inaugurating the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station in Jakarta. reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 11.

The seven sub-districts, Pamamangan, Tanjung Priok, Kemayoran, Cempaka Putih, Johar Baru, Matraman, and Senen.

In addition, the largest water pump station pump pump in Indonesia funded by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Kemen PUPR) worth IDR 481 billion was effective in reducing a total of 879 hectares of flood land in North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Central Jakarta.

President Jokowi said the pump also strengthens flood mitigation in DKI Jakarta from upstream to downstream.

In the upstream section, the government has realized a water catchment area at Ciawi Dam with a capacity of 6.05 million square meters and an inundation area of 39.40 hectares through a construction cost of Rp798.7 billion.

The government has also reduced the water discharge of the Ciliwung River flowing to Jakarta, from 56.52 to 41.05 cubic meters per second through the presence of the Sukamahi Dam.

"Then also the Ciliwung drain has also been completed, to enter the water from the Ciliwung River into the East Flood Canal," he said.

Another flood mitigation that the government is also taking, he said, is the normalization of the Ciliwung River, which currently leaves an area of 17 kilometers.

"And the lowest one now is Ancol in Sentiong, namely Sentiong Water Pump Station, because it is from above, finally it comes here, to Pluit, but this is the largest pump that has been built by the Ministry of Public Works and we hope it will greatly reduce flooding in DKI Jakarta, especially in seven sub-districts," he said.
