Said Aqil Express Netral And Pray For All Paslons In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Said Aqil stated that he was neutral in the 2024 presidential and vice presidential election contestation.

Nevertheless, Said said he still wished all the best for all pairs running as presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"I am no longer the chairman of the party, nor is the chairman of NU anymore. (I only) pray for which one is good for God, that will be the case," Said said after receiving a visit from the vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakubuming Raka at the Al-Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School, Jakarta, Sunday.

Said said he also prayed for another candidate who visited him.

"It's the same. When Mr. Anies came here I also prayed," he said.

He said all candidate pairs are the nation's best sons who will be able to lead Indonesia in the next five years.

"Everything fits. The three are the nation's children. Yes, the nation's sons are the best," said Said.

Said added that he received the arrival of presidential and vice presidential candidates to the boarding school to ask for prayers. He considered that students are one of the strengths of society.

"Santri is a bulwark for the strength of the community where all potential goods want to get blessings from the students. I accept all of them," said Said.

Previously, presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo visited Said Aqil at the Al-Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School on Thursday (5/10).

On another occasion, presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan also visited to stay in touch on Thursday (23/3).

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday, November 13, 2023, determined three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates to participate in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres).

The results of the draw and determination of the number of participants for the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md serial number 3.
