Ganjar Will Review Regulations That Are Not Pros And Fishermen

JAKARTA - Prospective President of the Republic of Indonesia Ganjar Pranowo said his party would review regulations or regulations that would not side with fishermen if they were elected president in the 2024 General Election.

Ganjar conveyed this after meeting hundreds of fishermen who are members of the Indonesian Traditional Fishermen's Unit (KNTI) and the Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI) at his residence, Patra Kuningan, Jakarta, Sunday.

"Earlier, fishermen mentioned many rules or regulations that were deemed not pro to fishermen. So, in the future, regulations and regulations need to be reviewed," said Ganjar in a press statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.

According to Ganjar, regulations in the marine sector in the coming year must be in favor of fishermen. Therefore, regulations that are considered overlapping and detrimental to fishermen must be reviewed or revised.

Ganjar also agrees that licensing for fishermen must be made easier. In the future government, according to him, the licensing requirements are sufficient by using an ID card and can use a digital system so that it is easier.

"Including the issue of subsidized fuel, it must fulfill that. In essence, they must involve them in every decision making so that our marine regulations in the future side with fishermen," he said.

On this occasion, Ganjar appreciated and welcomed the aspirations of fishermen from East Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, West Java, Banten, and Lampung. All of these aspirations are occupied to be used as a guide for determining policies if they are elected president in 2024.

One example of a regulation that is considered detrimental to fishermen is Government Regulation (PP) Number 11 of 2023.

Deputy Chairperson of the KNTI, Sugeng Nugroho, said that the regulation limits fishermen to only go to sea at 573/572 or approximately 200 nautical miles. In fact, according to fishermen, the vast Indonesian sea can be used by domestic fishermen and not foreign fishermen.

"Obviously this is detrimental to us, we ask that the regulation be removed and fishermen are released to go to sea because it can increase income for the country," said Sugeng.

In addition to the problem of fishing zoning, fishermen also conveyed a number of other aspirations ranging from ease of licensing, repair of boat lanes, subsidized diesel raw materials, to assistance for fishing gear.

During his two terms as Governor of Central Java, a number of fishermen considered that Ganjar brought many programs, both for fishermen such as subsidized fuel programs and fisherman insurance. Therefore, they decided to leave their hope to the presidential candidate number 3.ane.
