Six People Still Missing Due To Landslides In Nganjuk

JAKARTA - As many as six people are still declared missing in landslides in Ngetos Village, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java. Landslides have occurred since last Sunday, February 14.

The SAR team again found one victim who died from a landslide that occurred in Ngetos Village, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java Province on Wednesday, February 17 morning.

Head of Disaster Data and Communication Committee of BNPB, Raditya Jati, said that the total number of victims who were found by the joint team was 13 people who died. Meanwhile, landslides resulted in 20 injuries.

"The injured victims received medical treatment at the local health center. Until now, the joint team is still trying to search and evacuate victims who are still buried by landslides", Raditya said in his statement, Thursday, February 18.

Raditya said that the landslide emergency response command post informed the evacuation process was constrained by rainy weather around the disaster site.

"The rain that fell greatly affected the ground conditions so the joint team carefully monitored the ground movement. The evacuation process was temporarily stopped due to rainy conditions. On the other hand, the evacuation route via ambulance was constrained by narrow road access and movement of people", he explained.

Therefore, the joint team has deployed 5 excavators to help speed up the search for victims at the landslide location.

The Nganjuk Regency Government has determined the status of the Nganjuk flood and landslide emergency response for 14 days, starting from February 15, 2021, to February 28, 2021.

The determination of this status was issued through the Regent's Decree Number 188 of 2021 concerning the determination of the emergency response status for floods in several districts, in the Nganjuk Regency area and landslides in Selopuro Hamlet, Ngetos Village, Ngetos District, Nganjuk Regency.
