NasDem Party Faction DKI Jakarta To Tanah Abang Merchants: Don’t Be Too Happy

JAKARTA - The government has held phase two of the COVID-19 vaccination for public service workers since yesterday. The second phase of vaccination starts with the target market merchants, located in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

However, market merchants who have received the injection are asked not to be too happy and keep carrying out the 3M health protocols.

"Market merchants should not be too happy after being vaccinated against COVID-19. They must still obey to 3M health and movement protocols, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands as often as possible", Wibi Adrino, Head of the Nasdem Faction at the House of Representatives (DPRD) DKI Jakarta, told reporters, Wednesday, February 17.

Wibi said, even though the vaccine is given to increase antibodies, the recipient still has the potential to transmit the virus to others with the category of asymptomatic people (OTG). Let alone when they have not received the second dose of vaccination.

"Vaccine recipients must adhere to 3M to protect themselves, including others, especially protecting people who have not received the vaccine and have a history of comorbidities", said Wibi.

He continued, prospective recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine must be honest with health workers regarding their body condition. They must share the possibility of having a history of comorbid diseases or being a survivor of COVID-19.

"Vaccination must really be checked that the recipient does not have a congenital disease. The goal is to minimize the risk of the side effect from getting the vaccine", he said.

For people who haven't gotten their turn for the vaccination, Wibi asked to be patient. This is because there are so many vaccination recipients that the injection process takes quite a long time.

Based on information from the DKI Jakarta Health Office, there are 7.9 million residents of the Capital City who are recorded to be getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

"In time, everyone will definitely get it, but this has been arranged by the government to prioritize certain groups. For example, health workers and public service groups", said Wibi.

Yesterday, President Joko Widodo reviewed the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for market merchants at Tanah Abang. Jokowi observed that he was accompanied by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service Widyastuti.

Vaccination injections to public officials are carried out on the 8th floor of Blok A Tanah Abang targeting the market merchants. Vaccinations are also carried out on the 12th floor of Blok A Tanah Abang for PD Pasar Jaya employees.

The total number of market traders who have registered for vaccination today is 9.791. However, this number will continue to grow because the vaccination in Tanah Abang lasts for 5 days with a target of 55 thousand merchants.

In this second stage, COVID-19 vaccination is also intended for the elderly and public service workers. The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million public workers. This program lasts until May.

Apart from market traders, other public officers are educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, the National Army and Police Force, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers.

Furthermore, the vaccination will be carried out for 63.9 million vulnerable people or people living in areas with a high risk of infection. Then, other communities as many as 77.7 million people. This program will be conducted from April 2021 to March 2022.
