AMIN National Team Affirms Anies And Cak Imin Will Not Cancel IKN, But Prioritize Basic Needs

JAKARTA - The National Team for Winning Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (Timnas AMIN) emphasized that their presidential and vice presidential candidates would not cancel the construction of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN), but chose to solve the basic problems first as a priority.

"We did not state that we would cancel IKN, but we will review it according to conditions in 2024 when AMIN leads," said AMIN national team spokesman Usamah Abdul Aziz in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 9.

This is to answer the statement of the candidate for vice president number three Mahfud MD who said that the state would be chaotic if the new leader opposed the development of IKN, because it was directly against the law.

Usamah said that the Anies and Cak Imin pair never stated that they would stop the construction of IKN, but what is meant is to prioritize fundamental problems that are still unresolved, such as the construction of health facilities, education, and the fulfillment of cheap foods.

"We want to prioritize the interests of the people by prioritizing health, education, food, and others. In our opinion, it is more chaotic, where IKN is canceled or the people are still experiencing health difficulties, IKN is canceled or access to uneven education or prices for basic necessities are still not affordable," he said.

Usamah ensured that AMIN would still review the development of IKN, especially when elected as president and vice president in 2024-2029.

According to him, when the state's financial condition is stable, IKN development can be continued. However, when the financial and basic needs in Indonesia have not been completed, then IKN is not a priority.

"We will see first whether state finances are feasible, or capable, if they are feasible, they can be continued, but if they are not feasible, we will review them again, because we cannot guarantee that it will be canceled," he said.

The Indonesian KPU has appointed three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates as participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with serial number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The KPU has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule will be on February 14, 2024.
