JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) together with the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra) continue to strive for victims of the eruption of Mount Marapi to receive compensation or insurance claims.

"Currently, the West Sumatra Province BKSDA and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry are making efforts and discussions with insurance regarding the natural disaster incident on Mount Marapi regarding the insurance of climbers," said the daily executive (Plh) of the West Sumatra Province BKSDA Dian Indriati in Padang, quoted from Antara, Saturday 9 December.

Indriati explained that since the eruption on Sunday (3/12), the Directorate General of Ecosystem Natural Resources Conservation through the West Sumatra Province BKSDA, as the manager, has and continues to make the best efforts for victims.

"We will as much as possible help victims of the natural disaster of the eruption of Mount Marapi, both those who died and were injured," said Dian.

The victims of the volcanic eruption are trying to receive insurance or compensation from PT Asuransi Jiwa Syariah Amanah Jiwa Giri Artha (Amanah Gita).

He said that if the conversation with the insurance party had found a bright spot, the West Sumatra BKSDA would immediately convey it to the climbers who were victims of the unfortunate incident.

"Once again, please pray, and BKSDA will immediately convey the results of communication with the insurance party," he said.

He added that in the agreement contained in the insurance, it actually does not cover the victims if it is caused by natural disasters or injuries due to military training. However, BKSDA still seeks insurance to be claimed by victims or heirs.

Insurance is only given to victims if an accident occurs, a broken bone, dies or falls while climbing. However, as a form of concern, his party seeks to claim that insurance can be made in the name of humanity.

"What is clear is that we are trying to provide insurance or provide compensation to victims," he said.
