3 These Suspects Bowed Limply, Arrested By Bali Police For Deception

Three perpetrators of online fraud via Instagram were arrested by the Klungkung Police Team, Bali.

KLUNGKUNG - Three perpetrators of online fraud via Instagram were arrested by the Klungkung Police Team, Bali. The victim was deceived so that millions of money floated up.

"This perpetrator tricked the victim by means of the victim's cousin social media Instagram, and asked the victim for money to pay the agent's bill," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Klungkung Police, AKP Ario Seno Wimoko, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 17.

The three suspects are KEMY alias Edi Kenyot, KWB alias Sentit and MW alias Kopet. The perpetrator cheated by contacting the victim Ni Made Candra Ayustina through her cousin's Instagram account in the name of Ni Kadek Septia Cahyani.

The perpetrator then asked the victim for a sum of money on the grounds of payment by the agent so as not to be penalized by Japan. The perpetrator asked for Rp3.4 million.

Furthermore, from Ni Kadek's Instagram account Septia Cahyani again asked the victim for Rp. 2 million.

"At that time, the victim was not willing to give it and felt suspicious of being cheated by the Instagram account of Ni Kadek Septia Cahyani. With this irregularity, the victim then reported to the Klungkung Police," he said.

The three suspects were charged under Article 45a paragraph (1) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

From the perpetrators, evidence was found in the form of three cell phones, an airsoft gun, a savings book and Rp200 thousand in cash.
