Ahead Of The First Presidential Candidate Debate, Anies Prioritizes Discussing Human Rights Violations

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the National Team for the Winning of Anies-Muhaimin (AMINAl National Team) Usamah Abdul Aziz said his presidential candidate, Anies Baswedan is preparing to face the first 2024 presidential election debate which will be held on 12 December.

One of the discussions that Anies prioritized, said Usamah, was regarding human rights violations that had not been resolved to date.

"Indeed, what we focus on at this time is human rights, urgent human rights that must be resolved. When there is justice, when there is firmness and law enforcement, this human rights will be reduced to occur again in the future," said Usamah at the AMIN Winning House, Friday, December 8.

The human rights problems that Anies will highlight in the debate will refer to various cases, ranging from past human rights violations, land grabbing by the mafia, and new human rights cases.

"All human rights violations must be thoroughly investigated. All human rights violations, both Trisakti, and others. Everything must be resolved. Indeed, everything will be done and the target will be completed like that," he said.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set five schedules for the implementation of the debate for vice presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) in the 2024 presidential election.

The schedule for the debate will be held on December 12, 2023 for the presidential candidate, December 22, 2023 for the vice presidential candidate, January 7, 2024 for the presidential candidate, January 14, 2024 for the vice presidential candidate, and February 4, 2024 for the presidential candidate.

The first debate will discuss the theme of law, human rights (HAM), government, eradication of corruption, and strengthening democracy.

The second debate has the theme of discussion about defense, security, geopolitical, and international relations.

The third debate has the theme of the people's economy and the digital economy, social welfare, investment, trade, taxes, infrastructure, finance, and management of the state budget.

The fourth debate discusses energy themes, natural resources, carbon taxes, food, the environment, and agrarians as well as indigenous peoples.

Finally, the fifth debate carries the theme of information technology, improving public services, hoaxes, intolerance, education, health, and employment.
