PAPUA - Jayapura Resort Police (Polres) secured 36 packs of marijuana at Sentani Airport, Papua. The illicit goods were brought by a passenger with the initials RB (28) for Timika, Central Papua.

The Head of the Sentani Airport Area Police, Ipda Wajedi, said the 36 packs were stored in two packages, each containing 21 clear plastic packages and 15 clear plastic packages.

"We found him carrying the marijuana which had been neatly wrapped but detected Xray," he said in a written statement, Wednesday, December 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained, from the initial examination, RB admitted that the item was a deposit and was told that it contained a pan and vegetable fish.

"We have submitted further developments and investigations of RB and evidence of marijuana to the Jayapura Police Narcotics Investigation Unit," he said.

According to Wajedi, many modes are used to pass various types of narcotics, both by air and by sea, so this is a serious concern for officers in preventing the entry and entry of these illicit goods.
