JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) planted trees with communities and students in Embung Anak Munting, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.
President Jokowi said that tree planting activities had been carried out in stages in a number of areas, as a real action for Indonesia to deal with the impacts of climate change.
"Indeed, we want to move the reforestation of trees so that they are related to climate change, we really act," said Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.
President Jokowi said the types of plants planted with the community in Embung Anak Munting are very diverse, both aesthetic and non-enethetic plants.
"The plants planted are also plants with endemic plants, such as munting, bodhi, tabebuya, there is recovery, there is ketapang," he said.
The President said that currently there have been a number of nurseries centers in the country that are able to produce tree seeds.
One example is the Rumpin Persemaian which can produce 6 million seeds, the Labuan Bajo Maize 5 million seeds, the Bali Mangrove Maize 6 million seeds, to the Minister of Tourism 15 million seeds.
"But if this is done, the seeds must be planted, continue to be planted so that our country will really be greener, greener and become the lungs of the world," said President Jokowi.
