JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi said the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronics or Revision of the ITE Law only officially came into effect after being signed by President Joko Widodo.

According to Budi, after being ratified by the House of Representatives (DPR) at the 10th Plenary Meeting in the second session of the 2023-2024 period, the next step for the official ITE Law is to obtain approval in the form of a signature from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"According to the mechanism, the President within 30 days or 1 month to sign after being approved by the DPR. Earlier, it was approved by the DPR, later it means that it is only signed by the President," Budi said when met at the Nusantara II Building of the DPR, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5, confiscated by Antara.

Budi said that after being legally signed by the President, the regulation would be socialized directly to the public.

Overall, the Working Committee (Panja) team for the ITE Bill has completed discussions and agreed on changes to 14 existing articles and the addition of 5 articles of the Second Amendment Bill of the ITE Law.

All discussions and changes brought in the text of the ITE Bill were approved by nine factions contained in Commission I of the DPR RI consisting of the PDI-P, Golkar, Gerindra, Nasdem, Democrats, PKS, PKB, PAN, and PPP Party factions.
