JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is reviewing reports of two alleged campaign violations committed by the number two vice presidential candidate (cawapes) Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Jakarta BawasluDKI is reviewing the first alleged violation, namely related to Gibran's campaign activities in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, which allegedly involved children because they asked them to go on stage to be given books and milk.

"Bawaslu North Jakarta is conducting a study on the matter of the case. If Gibran's campaign activities are proven to involve children, then we will give strict sanctions," said DKI Jakarta Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Violation Division Coordinator Benny Sabdo as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

Based on Article 280 paragraph (2) letter k of Law Number 7 of 2019 concerning Elections, Benny emphasized that election participants are prohibited from carrying out campaign activities involving children.

Then based on Article 15 letter a of Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, it is stated that there should be no abuse of children for political activities.

Meanwhile, the alleged second violation is related to Gibran distributing milk to the public during motorized vehicle free days (HBKB) or a free day car in Central Jakarta.

Benny said the Central Jakarta Bawaslu did not receive any notification regarding the activity. According to him, the Central Jakarta Bawaslu is currently still conducting a study of the case.

"Bawaslu Jakpus also appealed to the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta that based on Article 7 of the DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation Number 12 of 2016 concerning the Implementation of Motor Vehicle Free Day, Jakartacar freeday should not be used for the benefit of political parties, let alone campaign activities," said Benny.

Previously, Gibran Rakabuming Raka invited the DKI Jakarta Provincial Bawaslu to trace the activities for milk to residents who were exercising during thecar freeday, Sunday (3/12).

The eldest son of President Joko Widodo explained that the distribution of milk did not use campaign props (APK).

"What is clear is that yesterday, Sunday, we were all without attributes, without APK, that's right," said Gibran.
