DPR Sahkan RUU Perubahan Kedua UU ITE Jadi Undang

JAKARTA - The DPR has officially ratified the Draft Law on the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) at the 10th DPR Plenary Meeting, Tuesday, December 5.

The ratification was marked by the tightening of the hammer carried out by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus and accompanied by an expression of appreciation to the stakeholders involved.

"Through this forum, we express our highest appreciation to the Minister of Communication and Information and the Minister of Law and Human Rights for all the roles and cooperation that have been given during the discussion of the bill," said Lodewijk at Nusantara II Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday 5 December, confiscated by Antara.

Prior to the ratification, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPRI as well as Chair of the Working Committee for the ITE Bill Abdul Kharis read out in detail the process of the work until the completion of the ITE Bill. He also gave a copy of the ITE Bill to the Chairman of the DPR Puan Maharani and the government representative, namely the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi.

Furthermore, the Minister of Communication and Information who was also present conveyed the Government's views regarding the ITE Bill.

The Minister of Communication and Information is of the opinion that the overall Draft Law (RUU) for the second amendment to the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE) has brought many improvements to regulate and make Indonesia's digital space healthier.

With the ratification of the draft as a rule, it is hoped that it can provide better legal handling so that digital space is more productive and just.

Overall, the Working Committee (Panja) team for the ITE Bill has completed discussions and agreed on changes to 14 existing articles and the addition of 5 articles of the Second Amendment Bill of the ITE Law.

All discussions and changes brought in the text of the ITE Bill were approved by nine factions contained in Commission I of the DPR RI consisting of the PDI-P, Golkar, Gerindra, Nasdem, Democrats, PKS, PKB, PAN and PPP Party factions.
