Reasons For South Gaza To Be The Target Of Israel's Aggression After The Ceasefire Is Over

YOGYAKARTA After the end of the ceasefire, Israeli attacks continued to be carried out on the Palestinian Gaza Strip, especially in the southern region. Even these attacks were considered more frequent in southern Gaza. So what is the reason why southern Gaza is the target of Israeli aggression?

As is known, the Israeli government and Hamas fighters had held a ceasefire for seven days. The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas itself ended on Friday, December 1, 2023. After the end, there was no extension of the ceasefire. On the other hand, the Israeli army continued to attack Galur Gaza.

The reason for targeting Israeli attacks on southern Gaza itself is that they believe Hamas leaders are hiding in the city of Khan Younis, where hundreds of people who were previously in northern Gaza then fled and took refuge in the first phase of the war.

Another source also said that one US official explained an intelligence analysis stating that the majority of Hamas officials, particularly the armed wing commander of the Al Qassam Brigade, had fled and been hiding in southern Gaza. Unfortunately, US officials did not explain the source of the intelligence analysis, originating from Washington or Tel Aviv intelligence.

Quoted from Al Jazeera, the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent Association (PRCS) noted that currently the death toll has reached at least 15,523, including child casualties reaching 6,600 and female victims reaching 4,300, as of Monday, December 4, 2023.

In addition, the number of injured victims also continues to grow to 41,316 people. Of these, approximately 70 percent are women and children. The number of residents reported missing in Gaza reached 6,800 people.

On the other hand, the number of victims of Israeli citizens did not increase. Even local officials revised the number of victims as of November 10 to be revised from the death toll of 1,405 to approximately 1,200 people, while the number of victims injured was 5,600 people.
