2 Riau Residents Evacuated From The Eruption Of Mount Marapi In West Sumatra

Two of the six residents of Riau Province who were trapped in the eruption of Mount Marapi in West Sumatra were successfully evacuated by the rescue team. Both are on behalf of Muhammad Ridho Kurniawan and Muhammad Arbi Muharman.

Meanwhile, four more people, Nazatra Adzin Mufadhal, Muhammad Wilma Saputra, Ilham Nanda Bintang, and Muhammad Adhan are still in the process of being evacuated. The stakeholders in Riau have dispatched four people to the location to provide assistance.

"Of the 29 residents of Riau, 25 have been evacuated and there are still four people in the evacuation process," said Head of the Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency, M Edi Afrizal, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

Edy said that his party coordinated with the West Sumatra BPBD in evacuating victims of the eruption of Mount Marapi. Regarding the information that Riau residents had died, his party had not yet obtained the data.

"Apart from the BPBD four people, Basarnas there are also 12 people to the location in West Sumatra," explained Edy.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that there were still 28 climbers who had not succeeded in descending from Mount Marapi in Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, who experienced an eruption on Sunday (3/12).

"A total of 19 climbers have been successfully deployed and rescued by a joint team. This means that there are still 28 climbers who have not succeeded in going down," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari as quoted in a BNPB press statement in Jakarta, Monday.
