YOGYAKARTA The figure of Benjie Yap is being discussed. He is predicted to become the new boss of PT Unilever Tbk (UNVR) replacing Ira Noviarti.

It is known that UNVR President Director Ira Noviarti resigned on October 24, 2023 for personal reasons. After resigning, Ira sold all of her shares as many as 870 shares with a total of IDR 3.17 billion.

As a follow-up, Unilever Indonesia's main shareholder plans to appoint Benjie Yap to fill the position left by Ira.

"The main shareholder of the company plans to propose Benjie Yap as the new president director of the company to be approved by the same General Meeting of Shareholders of the company," said Unilever Indonesia Director and Secretary Nurdiana Darus in an official statement, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, quoted by VOI.

Benjie Yap is not a new figure in the company's ecosystem. This Graduate ofTEN Kai Shek College (1980-1986) has been taking part in Unilever for decades.

Benjie Yap joined Unilever since 1994. At that time he was positioned as a technical management trainer and then engaged in manufacturing, engineering, and packaging development.

Benjie then moved the subject to marketing and assumed the position of marketing director of home care in 2001.

Unilever Indonesia's management believes that Benjie Yap's competence and ability can bring UNVR to a better direction.

"The company believes that the competence and capabilities of the new presidential director candidate (Benjie Yap) and current directors can continue to contribute to the strategu and future operations of the company," explained Nurdiana.

The company's recommendation to make Benjie Yap as President Director of Unilever will be agreed through the GMS on December 19, 2023.
