Mount Marapi West Sumatra Eruption, PVMBG Calls Alert Status

Mount Marapi erupted located in Tanah Datar Regency, eruption on Sunday at 14.53 WIB. (Between/HO-Pribadi).

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) confirmed that Mount Marapi in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) erupted at 14:53 WIB, Sunday, December 3.

"Today there has been an eruption of Mount Marapi," said Mount Marapi Security Post officer Ahmad Rifandi in a video recording in Padang, Sunday, December 3, which was confiscated by Antara.

Ahmad said that the column height could still not be reported because the cloud fog was still covering the view.

"The column height has not been observed because it is covered with clouds," he said.

He said the safe radius of the active mountain located between Tanah Datar Regency and Agam Regency was around 3 kilometers with an alert status.
