The PKB Faction Is Worried That The People Will Lose If The Bill Is Ratified By The DPR, It's Just A Pursuit

The DPR's National Awakening Party (PKB) faction reminded that the ratification of the draft law (RUU) was not forced towards the end of the trial year. This is because the public can lose later.

"Before the end of the year of this trial period, there are several bills that are encouraged to be discussed in the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI. We are worried that if this is just a pursuit of air to be ratified, the legal product will only harm the public interest," said Secretary of the PKB faction of the DPR Fathan Subchi in a written statement, Saturday, December 2.

Fathan then revealed that there were several draft laws that were being discussed. Among them are the Constitutional Court Bill (MK), the acceleration of the schedule for the 2024 simultaneous regional elections, and the Bill on the new status of the provinces of the special areas of Jakarta.

Then there is also a Bill on the Prohibition of Alcoholic Drinks, a Bill on the revision of Information and electronic transactions, and several other draft regulations.

"We hope that the discussion of this bill is actually carried out carefully so that the resulting laws and regulations products are truly in accordance with the public interest," he said.

The PKB faction, continued Fathan, also reminded the importance of public involvement and participation in discussing draft laws and regulations. Especially people who are directly affected.

"I gave an example when discussing the draft law on the Special Region of Jakarta, for example. So, people in Jakarta must really hear their voices," he said.

"Because they will be directly affected by the existence of a draft law that will be passed," continued Fathan.

Fathan also reminded that the ratification of the law should not use the politics of power. Do not let the laws that are passed only be due to certain political interests.

All attitudes, opinions, and public criticism regarding a bill must be heard and considered. Don't just because you want to be ratified, public voices are ignored and decided with a majority tyrannical model," he concluded.
