Indonesia Emphasizes Global Collaboration In The Agricultural Sector

JAKARTA - Indonesia invites all countries participating in the United Nations Climate Change Framework Convention or UNFCCC to strengthen collaboration in the field of agriculture because this sector can produce environmentally friendly energy.

"The demand for agricultural and plantation products will definitely increase very sharply because in addition to producing food, it also produces plant-based fuel, such as biodiesel, bieoethenol, and others," said President Jokowi delivering a speech on the food transformation system at COP28, Dubai, reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

Planted fuels are currently seen as environmentally friendly because they only produce lower emissions than fossil energy.

Jokowi said that there is no solution that can be applied to realize sustainable food security because each country has different strengths, such as Indonesia which has a fairly wide and fertile land advantage.

The Indonesian government has built massively connected infrastructure that supports agricultural ecosystems ranging from dams, irrigation, roads, and reservoirs.

In addition, abundant human resources with a composition of 30 percent of Indonesia's productive age population live from the agricultural sector.

This potential can be utilized for the prosperity of small-scale agriculture and also for large-scale food barns. Support for funding and high-tech transfers has the potential to enlarge food barns in order to supply global needs.

Jokowi said Indonesia strongly supports the presidential initiative of the United Arab Emirates in promoting international collaboration centers in the field of sustainable agriculture, supply chain resilience, and climate action.

"Indonesia hopes that this initiative can produce concrete results to create a more prosperous world," he said.
