SOUTH SUMATRA - A firefighter (Damkar) of Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency in South Sumatra (Sumsel) was declared dead while on duty to extinguish the fire.

The officer named Dio Suharyadi (35) died while tamed the red rooster who had a two-story permanent house on Jalan Kolonel Wahab Sarobu, Air Paoh Village, East Baturaja District, OKU, on Thursday, November 30 evening.

The victim, who is a resident of Teacher 1 Housing, Air Paoh Village, East Baturaja, OKU, suffered head injuries and was unconscious while being treated in the ICU room at Baturaja Hospital.

According to Aminlison, at the time of the incident the victim was actually off duty or off, but because of his soul's call he came and immediately joined his friends to extinguish the fire.

"The victim is known to be brave and usually leads at the forefront during the blackout process," he said.

Aminilson admitted that when the incident occurred, conditions were in the middle of heavy rain, but the flames were still very large.

The victim and other officers struggled to extinguish the fire and that's when the resplang of the burning house collapsed and hit the victim's head.

"Currently, the victim has been buried by the family at a public cemetery," he said.

Acting OKU Regent Teddy Meilwansyah is also concerned and expresses his condolences for the death of the victim while carrying out his noble duties.

"All rights of victims will be given, including insurance. We, the big family of the OKU Regency Government, are sorry that the victims are accepted by Allah SWT and the families left behind will be given patience," he said.
