Becoming A Suspect For SYL Extortion, Firli Bahuri Asks For Support

JAKARTA - The inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leader Firli Bahuri asked for community support. Although, his status is a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"I ask for support from all Indonesian people," Firli told reporters after undergoing an examination at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Friday, December 1.

Not only asking for support, Firli also mentioned the big challenges that must be faced if he wants to eradicate corruption in Indonesia.

As if hinting at the legal case he was facing was a consequence of his series of corruption prosecutions during his tenure as Chairman of the KPK.

"That indeed in eradicating corruption it is not easy, of course there are many challenges and obstacles, even in body life we must sacrifice," he said.

Then, Firli also asked all parties to respect the ongoing legal process by upholding the principle of presumption of innocence and also not judging him.

"In order to educate the nation's life, so as not to spread or develop narratives or opinions that will mislead us all. In fact, it tends to judge us all," he said.

"Of course we hope that our colleagues will all oversee the entire legal process that is running, we respect the presumption of innocence and also make sure that legal certainty will run," said Firli.

Firli Bahuri has completed an examination for approximately 10 hours starting from 09.00 WIB to 19.00 WIB.

In the alleged extortion case, Firli Bahuri, who has the status of a suspect, is charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
