Asked For Valas Evidence Of IDR 7.4 Billion, Firli Bahuri Leave It Completely To Investigators

JAKARTA - Chairman of the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was reluctant to open his voice regarding the confiscation of evidence of foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion in the alleged extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

This was conveyed by Firli when asked by the media crew after the 3-star police general underwent an examination at the Polda Metero Jaya today. Firli admitted that he had fully handed over the handling of the case that ensnared him to the Police investigators.

"Of course I entrust my fellow investigators to all Indonesian people who can monitor and follow this process until it is finished," Firli told reporters, Friday, December 1.

Then, Firli mentioned the principles he adhered to regarding the legal process. According to him, everything that starts must end according to the rules.

"Because in principle every legal issue we must solve legally where the legal process begins, there must also be an end, namely it is finished because we are familiar with the principle of 'the sunrise in the sunset principle' which is actually law," said Firli.

Meanwhile, the foreign exchange document worth Rp7.4 billion found by investigators was the result of the confiscation in the investigation into the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture SYL.

The foreign exchange document is in the form of Singapore dollars and the United States Inspection from February 2021 to September 2023.

In the alleged extortion case, Firli Bahuri, who has the status of a suspect, is charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
