JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad) Lieutenant General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) with the rank of TNI General.

The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 103/TNI/2023 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Army Chiefs of Staff.

Guided by President Jokowi, Maruli took his oath of office to always be loyal to the 1945 Constitution and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of the dharma of devotion to the nation and state.

"That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of my position, work as well as possible and with a full sense of responsibility. That I will uphold the oath of soldiers," Maruli said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

With this inauguration, Maruli received a promotion to one level higher to become a TNI General.

During the inauguration, President Jokowi took the oath of office of Maruli Simanjuntak as Kasad. Then continued with the signing of the minutes of the appointment of the oath of office.

Present witnessed the inauguration agenda of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto.

Maruli Simanjuntak was born on February 27, 1970, serving as Army Chief of Staff as of November 29, 2023 today, replacing TNI General Agus Subiyanto, who has been sworn in as TNI Commander.

Men who graduated from the Military Academy in 1992 came from Infantry (Kopassus) branching and the Cakra Combat Detachment.

Maruli is also the son-in-law of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
