The Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) is collaborating with a team from the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to investigate reports related to the alleged leakage of 2024 election data on the kpu.go.id website.

"We are still confirming whether the information is true or not. We are working with the existing team, namely the team from the KPU, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) team, then from the Police Headquarters crime cyber team, and also BIN and the Ministry of Communication and Information," said Hasyim Asy'ari at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

Hasyim explained that his party only found out about this information through the KPU information system news which contained the data of the 2024 election voters being hacked and the data was taken and then sold.

Since the KPU received this information on Tuesday afternoon (28/11), the joint team immediately moved to check and trace the information.

This information, continued Hasyim, was handled by the KPU information technology team (IT) involving the Police Cyber Patrol team.

"Later, if the indications are clear, of course there will be further actions. However, the most important thing is that it is now being investigated, it is being checked, the truth of the information is being tracked," he said.

He explained that the 2024 election data can be accessed by the public online on the cendptonline.kpu.go.id website.

"Later, go in there and then it can be accessed through our respective population identification numbers. In essence, the information can still be accessed until now," said Hasyim.

Previously, the Director of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Brigadier General Pol. Adi Vivid A.Bachtiar said that his party found allegations of leakage of voter data on the kpu.go.id site through cyber patrols carried out by investigators from the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber).

This is related to the emergence of an anonymous hacker named "Jimbo" who claims to have hacked the KPU website and accessed voter data from the site.

The account shares 500 thousand example data in one upload on the BreachForums site. The site is usually used to sell hacked data.
