Bengkayang West Kalimantan Police Seize Illegal Alcohol And Cigarettes From Malaysia

The Bengkayang Resort Police, West Kalimantan arrested the perpetrators and confiscated evidence in the form of liquor and illegal cigarettes from the Malaysian state.

"In this case, two perpetrators were arrested along with the evidence confiscated, 380 envelopes containing 3,800 packs of cigarettes and 91 bottles and 144 cans of liquor from Malaysia," said Bengkayang Police Chief AKBP Teguh Nugroho as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 28.

The disclosure of the case on Jalan Raya Sanggau Ledo, Ledo District, Bengkayang Regency (22/11/2023) has been arrested by two perpetrators with the initials HL and FH who were caught carrying a number of liquor and cigarettes without being equipped with valid documents by driving a car.

"The mode of the suspect bought the items from the border and planned to resell them by retailing them to stalls without any legal documents from related parties," he explained.

For his actions, the suspect is subject to Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation and Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning the harmonization of tax regulations.

The Bengkayang Police have handed over the case files to the Jagoi Babang Customs and Excise. This is a manifestation of the seriousness of the police in collaborating with relevant stakeholders in taking firm action against perpetrators of trade/consumer protection/food in the form of alcoholic beverages and excise from Malaysian countries.

He hopes that this disclosure can maintain a conducive atmosphere and create a sense of security and comfort in the community, especially the people of Bengkayang Regency.

"To the people of Bengka Regency who immediately report to the nearest Police if they meet, see and hear any alleged criminal acts in any form because in essence, maintaining security and security is our shared responsibility," he hoped.
