Minister Anas-Nadiem Completes Recruitment Of 1 Million PPPK Teachers

JAKARTA - Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas met Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim to complete in detail/detail related to the recruitment of 1 million government employee teachers with a Work Agreement (PPPK) which will end in 2024.

"Today I met with Mas Nadiem to detail (discuss in detail) regarding this matter. Alhamdulillah, we are optimistic that in 2024, the target of 1 million PPPK teachers can be completed, because now the progress is significant," Anas said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

Anas explained that the target of 1 million PPPK teachers is a form of the government's commitment to improve the quality of human resources. According to him, education is one of the keys to realizing that.

The fulfillment of teachers, among others, through the recruitment program of 1 million PPPK teachers, is the attention of President Joko Widodo. The recruitment of 1 million PPPK teachers comes from non-ASN (honorary) and THK-II teachers who have been serving.

"Indonesia Gold 2045 where this country will enter into the top four world economies requires superior human resources, and teachers play a very significant role," he said.

"So that the government is speeding up the recruitment of 1 million PPPK teachers as one of the foundations for increasing human resources, which of course will also be supported by the quality of our children's education infrastructure and nutritional intake," continued Anas.

He also hopes that through a meeting with Nadiem, he will produce a good formula in completing the recruitment of 1 million PPPK teachers by the end of 2024.

"We will continue to comb and ensure that no one is left behind so that the target of meeting the needs of 1 million PPPK teachers can be met," added Anas, who is also the former head of the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP).

In addition to discussing the fulfillment of teacher needs, the Minister of PANRB and the Minister of Education and Culture also "detailed" the career patterns and equitable distribution of teachers in the 3T area (frontier, outermost, underdeveloped).

"This meeting is also to ensure the career of teachers and the availability of teachers in the areas that are left behind and outermost. We will detail this incentive scheme and later set forth in Government Regulations. The incentives range from career side to income incentives, hopefully we can complete the regulations soon," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim said collaboration with the Ministry of PANRB was a step to accelerate the fulfillment of 1 million PPPK teachers.

"This is indeed the government's commitment to implement it and the Minister of PANRB is very supportive quickly so we believe this can be fulfilled," explained Nadiem.

Over the past few years, the recruitment of PPPK teachers has continued. In 2021 and 2022 there will be around 544,000 PPPK teachers from honorary teachers and THK-II.

As for the 2023 recruitment, it is predicted that around 840,000 PPPK teachers will be achieved. The shortfall will be met in 2024 and even later the total can be processed by more than 1 million PPPK teachers.
