4 Police Allegedly Persecuted Residents In Ambon Arrested

The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirreskrimum) of the Maluku Police is still investigating the case of mistreatment of the residents of Batu Merah, Ambon City, which was allegedly carried out by the police.

"While investigations are still being carried out," said the Director of General Crimes (Dirkrimum) of the Maluku Police, Kombes Andri Iskandar in Ambon, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.

The Maluku Regional Police have arrested four police officers suspected of being involved in the persecution of one of the residents of Batu Merah, Ambon City.

Those who were secured by the Maluku Police Propam were Aipda MT, Bripda R, Bripda AP (ditsamapta member) and Bripda FFDT ( Brimob member). The four of them were involved in the persecution of a young man.

The arrest occurred after reports of abuse took place at the Maluku Police SPKT on Saturday (18/11).

The persecution report has been received and Propam, nine witnesses have been examined, namely the victim's witness and eight members of the Maluku Regional Police on Tuesday (21/11).

From the results of the examination, the Maluku Police Propam immediately arrested the four members for allegedly molesting the victim. They have now been detained in a special place (Patsus) Bidpropam Maluku Police.

The Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Pol. M. Roem Ohoirat, emphasized that the four police officers would be processed with alleged violations of the Police Code of Ethics.

"They are also being processed by general crimes which will be handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Maluku Police," said Roem.

The Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif regretted the violence. The reason is, on various occasions, the Kapolda often reminds every member not to hurt people's hearts.

"I regret the incident, members and will definitely be processed and given severe sanctions against them in accordance with applicable legal regulations," he said.
