Prabowo Claims To Be Comfortable With Muhammadiyah

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto admits that he is comfortable in the midst of Muhammadiyah's extended family. Prabowo said, Muhammdiyah has an important role in the history of the struggle of the Indonesian nation.

This was conveyed by Prabowo while attending the Muhammadiyah Open Dialogue with the Candidate for National Leaders which was held at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya, East Java, Friday, November 24.

During the visit, Prabowo was also accompanied by the General Chairperson of PAN Zulkifli Hasan. Prabowo said Zulkifli was one of his friends from Muhammadiyah figures besides Buya Syafii Maarif and Din Syamsuddin.

"Today I am very comfortable among the Muhammadiyah extended family. Maybe because of my daily environment, there are many Muhammadiyah people," said Prabowo, Friday, November 24.

"There is also Mr. Zulkifli Hasan, the General Chair of the National Mandate Party, whose logo is known as the solar party. So maybe there is a blood relationship with Muhammadiyah. Maybe it can be said that Muhammadiyah's biological child," he continued.

Prabowo said the Muhammdiyah extended family has an important role in the history of the struggle of the Indonesian nation.

One of them, was done by the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Sudirman. Prabowo said General Sudirman was one of the Muhammadiyah figures who fought for Indonesia's independence.

"I am from the big family of the TNI and the first TNI Commander is a former Muhammadiyah school principal in Purwokerto, namely the TNI Commander General Sudirman. This is the role of Muhammdiyah figures appearing at a critical time, when this nation is at stake," said Prabowo.
