Alexander Marwata Reluctant To Wish The Position Of Acting Chairman Of The KPK After Firli Was Deactivated

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata does not want to assume that the KPK chairman (Plt) will be dismissed if Firli Bahuri is temporarily dismissed.

This was conveyed after Firli was named a suspect in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. As for the rules of the KPK Law, it is stated that if a leader is named a suspect, he will be temporarily dismissed

"Who is the (signal executor, ed) chairman, right, right, yes, we don't make assumptions. We also don't know," Alexander said as quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Friday, November 24.

Alexander explained that Firli was still on duty as usual. This is because the dismissal must be decided by the president through a Presidential Decree (Keppres).

"There is no Presidential Decree yet from the president and until now Mr. Firli is still the Chair of the KPK carrying out his duties as usual," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) has prepared the Draft Presidential Decree on the temporary dismissal of Firli Bahuri from the position of Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and executor of temporary duties. Preparations were made after the letter of determination of the suspect on behalf of Firli was received on Thursday, November 23 yesterday.

"The Ministry of State Secretariat has prepared the Draft Presidential Decree for the temporary dismissal of the Chairperson of the KPK and also the appointment of a temporary chairman," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.

"So there are two contents of the Presidential Decree. One is related to the temporary dismissal of the KPK chairman and the second is the appointment of the interim chairman," he continued.

Regarding the candidate for acting (Plt) to replace Firli, Ari said that he came from one of the current KPK leaders which would be decided by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He did not give any leaks but after the letter of signing was prepared, the president would do it.

However, Ari did not specify the time. As we all know, the President is currently on a working visit in West Papua and after that he will leave for West Kalimantan for a working visit. The plan is that tonight he will land in Jakarta," he concluded.
